The Bacolod Baywalk

The Bacolod Baywalk will open on February 14, 2013 (Valentine's Day)! The area will feature a walk path and an area to view Bacolod's sunset. Currently, the area features "restaurants" (tent areas selling bbq, inasal, and other Bacolod favorites), kiosks, and an entertainment area but will soon feature more activities available for families as the area develops. The Bacolod Baywalk is now charging 20 pesos as an entrance fee.

The developers are planning on adding a small beach, jet ski rentals, hotels, condos, and much more. However, it will likely take years to do so. Currently, the area will be a place for families and friends to hang out while performances take place at the event center.

The Baywalk can be found at the Reclamation Area near SM City Bacolod and a short walk away from Pope John Paul II Tower.

How to get there
You can take one of the many jeepnies (Pta. Taytay, Airport, Bata, Mandalagan, Shopping, Alijis, Sum-ag). However, be sure to ask the driver first! Not all the jeepnies will go by the area (even if the jeep has an SM sticker).

Current complaints about Bacolod Baywalk include:
  • No garbage bins. People are throwing their trash everywhere. Soon the sea will be littered with trash and polluted.
  • No police presence beyond the gate. Police are searching individuals at the entrance, yet there were no officers inside.
  • Police did not check bags and did not swipe them with the metal detector. Weapons can easily be brought in.
  • There are no places to sit except along the wall.
