Negros Showroom on Lacson St. |
The Negros Showroom in Bacolod City is located on the tourism strip (Lacson St.). However, if you are ever near Robinsons Place Bacolod, you can check out their extension in City Walk (behind the mall). They actually have almost the exact same products and items. The outside of the City Walk shop is more pleasing to the eyes and in a great place for when you are wanting to cool off and walk around Robinsons mall.
In Negros Showroom, you'll find various cultural items found across the island, including Bacolod City. You'll find items such as Bacolod festival masks, weaved hats and mats, and unique jams such as coco and guava.
The greatest part of the showroom is the art. There are tons of items created by Negros people on display and for sale. The problem? They are expensive. It's cheaper to pick up the items directly, but if you aren't staying for too long it will be easier and faster at Negros Showroom. Also, you probably won't know where to look or ask. As well, finding Bacolod festival masks outside of October is almost impossible if you aren't at the showroom.
Furthermore, the Negros Showroom is home to some great pasalubongs (gifts to take home and give to someone, usually food). If you aren't feeling up to traveling all over Bacolod to various pasalubong shops (Merci, Margie's, BongBongs, Foodman, Ceres Pasalubong), you can head to Negros Showroom and pick up your favorites or see what they have to offer. The main pasalubong for Bacolod is piaya (a flat bread made with various fruits or sugars). But you should check out everything they have to offer. Negros is the sugar capital of the Philippines, so there are a lot of sweet treats to choose from.
