Calda Pizza

One of my American expat coworkers once told me, "Calda has the est pizza in Bacolod." Being a fellow American, I had to give it a try.

Calda is located near Gaisano City in Singcang-Airport along Araneta Avenue.

Honestly, the pizza was one of the farthest things from what i could have imagined. Nothing like an American pizza at all and definitely not something I figured an expat would consider as the best pizza.

Calda Pizza, isn't it thin?

The pizza has a thin and crispy texture that goes well with beer.So if you like to drink, go right ahead. However, if you are looking for a meal, this might not e what you are looking for. It is bigger than you'd expect but it isn't filling by any means since there is little cheese and crust.

Luckily there are also other alternatives. They serve typical pasta like spaghetti and carbonara but they also serve "eatery" type food as well. Their pasta is cheap and plentiful but tastes pretty typical.

The service at Calda is perhaps exactly what you'd expect from such a place like this: almost non-existent. The servers basically ignore you once you receive your food unless you wave your hands like a dying orangutan.

The environment is dead during the daytime. Essentially the only thing you hear in the background is gossip coming from the workers. At night, they feature live bands on some days and on other days they'll turn on the television so people on the other side of the road can hear it.

Overall, I highly suggest either going on a live bands day or simply taking the pizza out. It isn't too bad of a pie but it isn't the best either. It's cheap, big, and good for alcohol.
