The ruins in Talisay, Negros Occidental, Philippines |
The Ruins, also known as The Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson Mansion, is a 903-square meter structure located just outside Bacolod City limits in Talisay. The ruins are the left overs of a mansion owned by a rich sugar cane baron. It is sometimes referred to as the Taj Mahal of Negros since it was built for the baron's wife.
The story is that the sugar cane built the mansion for his wife who he met while vacationing in Hong Kong. His wife was Portuguese woman from Macau. The mansion was one the largest structure built in the area before World War II. However, once the war broke out, the baron's family burned the house in order to keep it from falling into the Japanese forces hands. Nonetheless, The Ruins still show the beauty the mansion once was. It shows the fine art, culture, furniture, and chinaware the family owned.
As well, beside The Ruins you'll find a coffee shop, a mini golf course, and a large garden that features a fountain.
You are allowed to take pictures around the mansion for 75 pesos. It is open from 8:30am to 8:00pm daily.
To get to The Ruins from Bacolod City, you can take a Jeepney to the Pepsi plant and take a tricycle to The Ruins. Or, if you are driving, you can go to Pepsi and follow the arrows.
You can also hold your wedding and other ceremonies at this great Negros attraction.
