A short drive south of Bacolod you'll find the wonderful, eventful, and mesmerizing Mambukal Mountain Resort.
Here, you'll find such activities as swimming, hiking, rock climbing, boating, giant bat watching, and being able to take a dip in the hot springs. Of course, none of those are the reason why the resort is so popular among locals and travelers alike. Mambukal Mountain Resort is home to the world famous seven falls.

Actually, the greatest part of taking the long hike is the fact that you can ride the third fall down to the second. Sounds scary, but it's quite fun! You can also hang around the first and second falls for some swimming, if you don't mind taking a dip that's not in a swimming pool.
If the falls aren't something you or your children are into, you can check out the wonderful Butterfly Sanctuary inside the resort. Here, you'll find many species that you won't find anywhere else, including endangered and native butterflies from the area.

To get to the resort from Bacolod, you can take a bus from Libertad. The ride is bumpy and uncomfortable (the bus headed there doesn't have air conditioning and very little leg room), but it is well worth it. Take either Bata or Mandalagan jeepney and get off at the 2-Big station (it's shortly after Lupid church on the opposite side of the road). Walk through that area and you'll see buses lined up. Find the one that says Mambukal on it.
If you don't feel like going back to Bacolod right away, you can rent a cottage or hotel room for the night. The resort also offers a function hall for weddings and other social events.
